美国留学 美国的基础教育从幼儿园(Kindergarten)到12年级
美国的基础教育从幼儿园(Kindergarten)到12年级,一般简称K-12。美国小学是从K-8年级。9-12年级是属于美国高中。美国政府规定,所有想申请F-1签证到美国读书的国际学生,最早可以申请的年级是9年级。 近两年,由于美国经济低迷,政府财力有限,对公立高中的财政补贴也随之紧张。很多公立高中面临教育经费减少,教育设施无法更新,甚至有的学校必须用裁减教职员工来缓解财政危机。 出于这一目的,部分州的公立高中率先向州政府提出申请,要求有资格招收国际学生。这样不仅可以收取国际学生学费,也可以增加学校的多元文化(Diversity)。 国际学生只能在美国公立高中读一年,所以对于国内高二的学生非常合适。如果打算去美国读大学,那高三对于国内学生就完全没有意义,因为一般都是复习准备高考。而美国公立高中是可以接受在国内完成高二的学生去读12年级的,只要在12年级各科合格,就能拿到美国高中毕业证。 美国公立高中没有国际学生,都是当地社区的美国孩子,所以语言环境非常纯粹。公立高中由于受到政府补贴,所以在教育质量上各州都比较均衡。即便已经获得招收国际学生资格的学校,对招收比率也有严格控制,一般在5%左右。对于那些开放招收国际学生的公立中学,学校一般都会加设一些英语课程,对初来乍到的国际学生进行一些学术英语的培训,来帮助他们顺利渡过语言关。 目前可以招收国际学生的美国高中,除了加州和纽约地区外,都是以白人为主的社区,当地居民是典型的美国人:热情、朴实,社区非常安全。因为公立高中没有住宿,国际学生一般都需要住当地人家,这对提高英语口语,熟悉美国文化,融入美国生活非常有帮助。 当然,最重要的一点是,美国公立高中的学费非常便宜,一般一个学年的学费大概是4000-8000美金,加上生活费,一年也就15-20万,比私立高中便宜了一半都多。 美国公立高中都有升学指导老师,他们会根据学生情况来建议他们申请哪些大学。而且,在美国申请大学比国内优势多,美国大学更愿意接受已经受过美国教育的学生。在时间和地理情况允许范围内,学生也有更多机会去实地考察他们心仪的大学。这些都对以后申请美国大学作了很好的准备。 美国公立高中由各州州政府管理,州政府一般根据本州区域划分不同学区(SchoolDistrict),由学区来直接管理本区域内所有公立高中。
